Pick-me UP!

I'm going to start this thing called pick-me up Tuesday. Yeah, people say Mondays are the worst but when you get to Tuesday I usually find myself depressed that it's only Tuesday. I have a professor who does this before every class and it really sets the mood for the class and my day. These are going to be random quotes, poems, or just something to ponder. So here is todays...

I want to share this particular scripture because it is my favorite. I remember the exact moment this scripture made a difference in my life. I had taken my little brother Maverick over to a friends to have the missionaries practice giving a lesson to us. I was amazed at how much my little brother knew as the missionaries asked him questions and he knew every answer. The spirit was with us through that lesson and rethinking back to it I feel that same feeling. I wish I could remember the missionaries name but he closed with this scripture. It is important to have a memory or scripture that you can read or reflect and gain strength from to pick you back up. It is important to build a strong foundation for just not your family but yourself as well. A sure foundation is built on the Lord... so lets go to church, pray, spend time with family, go to the temple, and make our husband feel special :)

Best Sweet Potato Casserol Ever!

Honestly I am always looking for good recipes for dinner, lunch, Thanksgiving, dessert, and basically anything.This recipe comes from Ruth Chris and I made this dish last year for Aaron's family and I made it this year for my mom for Thanksgiving. These sweet potatoes are so good... it's almost a dessert. I know, I can only take a spoonful maybe a little more because it's rich and sweet. Nevertheless, everyone still loves them! It's sprinkled with a mix of brown sugar, flower, pecans, and butter which tastes amazing. Don't be fooled by the picture, it's actually pretty small serving size. The first time I made this I only put about less than an inch of the sweet potato mixture and the dry mixture on top mixed too much and it was really sugary. DIY: Yarn Wreath

I got this from a friends blog, and I have to put it on mine to share and remember to make this!

Here's what you need:

{all supplies were found at a craft store, Wal-Mart, and Target}

Wire Wreath Form {I used a 18in. form}

Ornaments

Yarn

Glue Gun

Styrofoam Balls

 

To make the yarn balls:

I used a variety of sizes of styrofoam balls.

The sizes I used are: 2 1/2 inch, 2 inch, 1 1/2 inch

Wrap the yarn around the styrofoam ball in various and alternating directions {just like making a real yarn ball} until all of the white sytrofoam is covered. When you're finished just tuck the end

of the sting underneath the yarn to secure it.

 

Making the wreath:

There are a couple of ways to do this.. you can evenly space out your large yarn ba

lls onto your wreath form and glue them one at a time. And then you can glue your smaller yarn balls and ornaments around your large yarn balls. I have done this on a few of my wreaths.

 

Or you can build the wreath one section at a time building upon each section as you go. I found that this leaves less 'wholes' and hides the wreath wire form from view. This method works better for me and I like the way it looks. I added the larger yarn balls and ornaments around the bas

e of the wreath form and then I filled the 'holes' with smaller yarn balls and smaller ornaments. Securing each by gluing them to one another and to the wreath form. While gluing the pieces together you'll want to hold them for 15-20 seconds to make sure they are secure before moving on. I also made sure that I alternated the colors.

I found that holding the wreath upright or hanging it on my door let me have a

good look at it and find the places where I needed extra pieces added.

 

 

 

Things I keep googling/like...

 Coat from Anthropologie, I can't get over how adorable it is. I tried it on in the store and ahh it was so cute! But then again everything in that store is cute!

This satin copper kitchen mixer... I love copper kitchen pans, pots, and MIXER! I just love the color. I started using my mom's kitchen aid while baking at her house and I always just had this idea that cookies turned out better if you hand mixed it, but as I started using this I really like it now!

I like the ipod, but this seems to have more functions and be more useful than an ipod and it's less expensive.

SONY NEX 5: In general I just love the way this camera looks. I have done a lot of reading reviews on this one. First off, this camera is a combanation of a DSLR and a small power shoot camera. So basically it gives you the quality pictures of a DSLR and the small convient size of a smaller camera. This is the upgraded version from the Sony NEX 3 to this the Sony Nex 5. The reviews obviously show the pros and cons but for me what I really liked about this camera is the guide book is in the camera instead of a book. It explains the features on the camera and what they should be used for etc... at least that's what I think. This camera's price ranges in the lower/middle end of high end cameras so the price really isn't that bad but I still would need to save money... If I had lots of money I would buy this :) hahaha

Sugar cookies!

I was looking for just a basic sugar cookie dough recipe and so far I like this. They weren't to sweet but just enough, especially balanced with a cream cheese frosting. And tomorrow I'm going to change it up and just put some candy cane in the frosting to make it more holiday. Here's the first batch... If you have a recipe that you like, I would really like to try it.

       Recipe

• 1/2 cup of butter
• 2 tablespoons of sugar
• 1 egg
• 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla
• 1 cup of flour
• 3/4 teaspoons of baking powder
• dash of salt (but I didn't put any in)
• Bake @ 350 and depending on your oven cook for 5-7 minutes.

French Onion Soup

 Mom cutting the onions and one time I googled ways to cut onions without crying... well one of the suggestions was goggles! So she tried it and it works! This night we made French Onion soup. It was delicious! During this preparation I made deviled eggs and then I heard my mom laughing behind me because I cut the eggs the wrong way! Haha I don't know what got into me but they were rolling all over the place. Nevertheless, it was pretty funny. If you want to try making this let me know!

Homemade Christmas Card

Honestly I LOVE crafts! Anything, that involves making something or painting or glue and creative mind, I like. So I made a Christmas card nothing really important, but it was fun and I think it turned out pretty good.

Harry Potter

Okay, so have you seen the new Harry Potter? If not get a date and GO see this movie! I got lost in the movie that when it finished I was like WHAT! that's it... It felt like I was only in the movie for honestly a few minutes. I think I'm gonna go see it again... :) Oooo and guess what the girl from Gossip Girl who saved Chuck Bass' life is in the movie too! I think she is pretty. Anyway, go see it!!

Keel's Simple Journal

This Simple Journal is honestly so cute! And it's a good starter journal if your not very good at writing in one. I saw this and had to get it! You can get a Anthropology or on Amazon and it makes a great gift. It only takes about 2 minutes to do an entry and every page is different as shown above. It asks random questions and what you think about certain topics. I LOVE it!

Angels Philly Cheese Steak

 

This place is pretty good. This just opened up in Provo off center street and one day I decided to go and try because I just love trying and eating different kinds of food. The best place I have gone for a cheese stake is "Philly's Best". They are pretty dang good, and although Angels was good too it wasn't quite as good, but I would go there again. So if you have a chance go try it and explore the local restaurants other than the main stream restaurants. 

Parents came to Utah

My parents came to Utah not to long ago from Florida and we had so much fun! We did a live session in the SLC temple and it was truly an experience. The actors didn't mess up once! I would highly recommend doing a session at this temple if you haven't before.

We had a nice day golfing at one of my favorite courses, Red Ledges. We played games which Aaron and I dominated at, haha. We absolutely love games! After we played golf we headed up to Park City for dinner to one of our favorites Ruth Chris... yummy sweet potatoes! We all had so much fun and really enjoyed having my parents for the weekend.

BYU Football

We had a recruit come in for the weekend and my teammate Kelsey and I got to host her and take her to the football game. We did a little pregame activity and walked around the tents that of course offer free things. Then we went into the stadium and got to go onto the field before the football team ran out.

It was HOT, but thank goodness we had lower seats so when the sun finally came over to the east side we could see again! Although BYU football hasn't been doing very well, we hope next year will be better and I think it will be!
